"Incredibly romantic. Being romantic is like, my third greatest talent, right after badminton and crime fighting."
Ben took the rest of his mask off after shaking Jessica's hand. He chuckled a bit and said, "Show off."
He liked that about her, Jessica challenged him so far, that was something Ben sorely needed in a friend, or a girlfriend, whatever came from this.
"Pleasure's all mine. It's not every day someone comes to beat you up, and you end up taking her out for pizza. Or is it? Have I been doing things wrong so far?" Yeah, they were going to get along together just fine.

"Racquet sport kind of guy, eh? I can work with that."
Smirking proudly, Jess gave a little shrug before saying, "You love it."
Have I been doing things wrong so far?
"Well... I wouldn't say wrong. Just... strange. Don't worry. Give me time, and I'll have you on the straight and narrow, Mr. Reilly. Unless I decide it's more fun your way."

"Love it?" Ben asked in an amused tone, "Ah, maybe just a bit."
She started teasing again, and Ben chuckled.
"We'll just see what you say about how fun my ways are after date number three." He finished off his second slice of pizza.
"Or, maybe with proper convincing, I'll end up doing exactly as you say. Who knows Jess, I'm sure you can be pretty convincing, I'm young and impressionable."

"And you're just a bit cocky, planning all these dates ahead, Mr. Reilly."
Jumping to her feet, Jessica finished her pizza with a lazy pirouette.
"Oh, I can be very convincing, and a very good teacher. You're in safe hands."

"Well, our second date is already planned," Ben rationalized, "And, c'mon, I'm a pretty charming Spider, you're not going to give me the benefit of a of a second date?"
He got up into a squatting position.
"A teacher, huh? Do you have a lesson plan already?"

"And moments after you plan it, you're rallying for a third. It's very flattering, but that doesn't make you any less cocky."
Jess shrugged.
"Doesn't mean you're wrong either."
Smiling at both his description of himself and the question, she tapped the side of her nose.
"The secret to success is to always be prepared for any eventuality."

Ben chuckled a bit and shrugged playfully, "Maybe I am a little cocky, guess it must be my upbringing, or lack there of."
When she affirmed that he wasn't wrong, Ben smirked a bit.
"Of course not."
He looked her over again and said, "I think a proper first date needs ice cream, don't you Jess?"

The thing about crime fighting was that so much of it took place at night. And with how long she had spent tracking Scarlet here down, then chasing him back and ending up on this date to begin with, they were well into evening.
So while the suggestion of ice cream wasn't unwelcome, it did bring Jess' full attention towards Ben again.
"I'm... open to that. What did you have in mind?"
She would have expected any ice cream shop to be closed. But then, Jessica still wasn't insync with humans entirely.
Unless he magically already had ice cream, but Jess thought she'd have noticed that.

Pulling his mask back on, Ben pointed at the twenty four hour convenience store across the street, "Give me a minute, what kind of ice cream would you like?"
He was feeling generous, and was enjoying their date to the point that he didn't want it to end quite yet.
Ben wouldn't want such a fantastic evening to end just because it was so late, he'd rather keep things going until it was a proper time to end the date.
Shooting a web down across the street, Ben grinned, "Two seconds, alright? I'll be back before you can say Sassy Scarlet Spiders Scare Criminals Surely, ten times."

Jess donned her own mask as well, but slower. The contours fit snugly against her face, buying her a moment perhaps to not feel so... consistently shocked by this Scarlet Spider.
"Why don't you surprise me?"
He was certainly good at that.
For all her posturing and flirting, Jess wasn't entirely used to this level of consideration. True, plenty of males had found her attractive, most of them probably because of those damn pheromones she couldn't control, but Ben...
He was just being nice.
Maybe the difference was that he was a spider as well? Could it be that simple?
"Sassy Scarlet Spders Scare Criminals Surely..." she started, slowly for the first go.

Ben snagged a web line and rode it down to the store. It was kind of odd to see someone in superhero garb going inside to buy ice cream, but not unheard of, Iron Man was rather fond of doughnuts.
The Scarlet Spider returned three minutes later, two prepackaged cones in hand.
"One chocolate, one vanilla, the lady gets to choose first." He held them both out, waiting to see which type Spider-Woman would prefer. Ben wasn't choosey.
"Of course," he started in a teasing voice, "We could have a bit of each and share."

Jess almost made a comment about how much longer than two seconds he had taken, or the fact that she had managed to say his little tongue twister at least twenty times before she had grown completely bored.
But she didn't.
Instead, Jess just took the chocolate.
"That ranks more as second or third date, actually," she corrected teasingly.
No matter how confused he might make her, Jessica Drew wasn't the sort to lose her footing for long.

Ben lifted his mask back up as he opened the vanilla cone's package and took it out, "Second or third? Oh gosh, you must think I'm so forward."
He enjoyed their little game, constant teasing and sarcasm was fun.
Squatting back into a crouched position, Ben grinned as he tasted his ice cream. He worked on his treat for a few moments before speaking again.
"So, you came to beat me up, and got a date out of it instead. I'd say, you did a pretty good job, eh Jess?"

"Well, what with your age, it's forgivable. Extenuating circumstances and all."
She'd already unwrapped her cone and was tasting it, or at least starting to past the ice crystals, when she heard Ben's taunt.
"Ah, but see, that's where you're wrong. I didn't track you down to beat you up."
Technically, perfectly true. It had always been an option, though.
"I tracked you down to get you to stop terrorizing minor players and the rest of the city by handing Jameson what he wants in a handbasket. And I got a date, pizza, ice cream, and a promise of two more to try and make you see things my way."
Smiling brilliantly, Jess went back to her cone.
"I think I did a pretty good job, yeah."

A laugh, "You're going to hold my age over my head for a long time, aren't you?"
Ben smirked a bit as Jess listed off her victories for the day, "Yeah, I suppose you're right."
He hadn't conceded that her way was right yet. It wasn't like he was Frank Castle, shooting down criminals of any level without any thought about it.
"You did do a pretty good job, didn't ya?"
