“I am Loki, of Asgard. And I am burdened with glorious purpose.”
LOKI
Name: LOKIODINSON/LAUFEYSON
Alias(es): God of Mischief, Lord of Chaos, Trickster of Asgard, Your Lord and Master…
REGULAR
Age: Who’s counting, really?
Height: 6’ 1”
Physical Description:
While those in Midgard would consider me fairly tall, it’s all rather a matter of perspective. My height is diminutive in comparison to those in the realm I was birthed into. My true natural appearance is hideous to my eyes, a blue skinned red eyed jotun, but the face I grew up in without ever knowing it was a lie is as handsome as that of any Asgardian. Dark hair and pale skin where my brother Thor is golden and ruddy, it is nonetheless pleasing and I confess myself quite fond of it.
Face Claim: Tom Hiddleston
Personality:
I have always enjoyed my little tricks. When I was foolish and impressionable, that is to say, when I was young, they were the only sure way of garnering attention. I was always in the shadow of my elder brother. Thor, who could do so little wrong in the eyes of Father or our mother, Frigga. It was to Thor that people rallied, to his mighty strength, whereas I soon cultivated my gifts in sorcery and a silver tongue for getting myself out of trouble.
Time in the space between worlds has helped show me the true way of things. There is only darkness. War, betrayal, shadow. Always the shadow, of my brother, of my true birth. So I became the monster I always was, a nightmare to be told to children.
Affiliation: I am allied to no one but myself, although I care more deeply for Asgard than perhaps I ought.
Identity: SECRET
Powers or Special Abilities:
I have a strong affinity for sorcery. Even now, I am still learning new tricks with my gift, which seems to only be limited by imagination, and those limits imposed by the All-Father. I can use this gift on my own, but also use my spear as a conduit for destructive and constructive spells.
Skills:
Shapeshifting – The ability to change form, a gift that first manifested as a baby, and that I am capable of using to this day. For the most part, I stick to my Asgardian form. There’s no need
Deception – Gifted not just with a silver tongue, but also the ability to shroud myself from the view of Heimdall and those in Asgard when I visit other realms.
Projection – This also manifests in two ways: one, I am able to teleport, and two, I am able to project multiple copies of myself. As multiple, I can match Thor for strength although on my own, I naturally pale in comparison.
Change of Heart – The tesseract, when combined with my cosmic spear, has the ability to remove free will from the hearts of those I touch with it.Aside from that infernal machine man.
Advantages:
A master schemer, you can rarely truly tell my intentions. The most obvious plan I had in a long while involved the Chitauri and the unfortunate formation of the Avengers. Perhaps that was why it was doomed to fail...
Confident and determined, my temporary ‘allies’ are tools at my disposal, which means I’m not weakened by fondness should they need to be discarded.
Disadvantages:
The All-Father made it so that I cannot use my powers to outright kill Thor or humans (although that doesn’t stop me from finding others to do my dirty work or taking a more hands on approach). Because of my ability to project and teleport, my fighting skills also fall short of the typical Asgardian warrior.
Occupation: Deity
Citizenship: Asgard
Place of Birth: Jotunheim
Relatives: While not biologically related, I was raised the son of Odin, and as such we share a “father” in Odin along with a "mother" in Frigga.
History:
I spent so many many years seeking recognition from my family. Father raised us under the pretence that Thor or I were equal candidates to the throne, and so, naturally, my resentment for my brother grew.
What had started as a mere trick, allowing jotuns into Asgard to disturb my brother’s coronation, ended up allowing me to manipulate Thor into his own exile. While I had not expected father to fall into sleep, I nonetheless seized the opportunity and quickly hatched a scheme to keep my brother occupied on Midgard with mortals whilst seizing the chance to prove myself to the All-Father by killing Laufey and all of Jotunheim.
Regrettably, my ‘brother’ prevented that last.
After Odin appeared on the rainbow bridge after Thor was idiotic enough to split the bifrost, his disapproval made it clear to me that I had no place in Asgard. So I fell into the abyss...
And I came back stronger.
An temporary alliance with the Chitauri brought an army tomy disposal to claim a realm for my own, all in exchange for what the humans termed the ‘tesseract’. It meant little enough to me, who had grown up with the casket always close at hand. And subjugating the human race my brother, who had taken so much from me, so favored seemed rather poetic.
Chances are, you know how that played out.
“IN THE END, YOU WILL ALWAYS KNEEL.”
