"This isn't a question of what I'm not. This is a question of who I could be."
MS. MARVEL
Name: Carol Susan Jane Danvers
Alias(es): Warbird (former USAF call sign); Ace (nickname)
REGULAR
Age: ~32
Height: 5’ 11”
Physical Description: Standing at nearly six feet tall, Carol is above average height for a human woman, though she has a fit, in-shape figure. Carol has blue eyes and blonde hair and is as beautiful as she is intimidating.
Face Claim: Sienna Miller
Personality: Carol is a very strong-willed woman. Her father had wanted her to have been a boy, but since Carol was not a boy, he treated her very differently than he did her two older brothers. He always said that a woman's place was in the home, and he forbade Carol from going to college. Instead, she joined the Air Force (and while there earned her 4 year degree), and she worked her way up the ladder eventually earning the title 'Major'. Perhaps she feels she has a lot to prove to her father (and the rest of the world). She gives everything her all and refuses to "half-ass" anything.
She is self-reliant and independent. If you cross her, Carol can be quite confrontational. Her strength of will is quite strong, suggesting that she would be resistant to mental domination (but by no means immune). Carol can often be seen as outspoken, as she is often direct and assertive.
Carol is also a great warrior. She has been trained to think fast in how to deal with emergency situations. When in battle she falls back to her military instincts and is quite an intimidating soldier. Carol demonstrates a personal code of honor and generally ethical behavior; though sometimes she has to make choices that could be seen as cold and uncaring.
Affiliation: The Avengers
Identity: SECRET
Powers or Special Abilities:
FLIGHT - Carol is able to fly at nearly the speed of sound and has even broken the sound barrier, but she cannot reach escape velocity and cannot survive in the vacuum of outer space without a proper space suit.
SUPER-STRENGTH - Carol can lift up to around 50 tons and can easily lift and throw cars/tanks/etc.
ENHANCED REFLEXES – Carol’s reflexes have been enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
SEVENTH SENSE – Carol has the ability to subconsciously anticipate an opponent’s moves. This is not something that she can control, and it is not always reliable; however, it can certainly help out in a pinch.
NEAR-INVULNERABILITY - Carol can take hits from most standard weaponry without injury, and she can also withstand machine gun fire, mortar shells and most standard energy weaponry. However, after being hit with enough force for a long enough period of time, Carol will weaken and become more and more susceptible to injury as time, and the battle, goes on.
QUICK CHANGE - She can use absorbed energy to transform her regular clothing into her costume and vice-versa.
PHOTON BLASTS - Carol can fire powerful concussion blasts of photon and stellar light energy from her hands and fingertips.
ENERGY ABSORPTION = Her body is capable of absorbing various types of energy for the purpose of temporarily enhancing her own physical attributes. She can augment her strength and energy projection up to the force of an exploding nuclear weapon.
Skills:
COMBAT STYLE (Martial Arts) - Danvers has been extensively trained in armed and unarmed combat, including numerous martial arts. This would include Modern Army Combatives training in Boxing, Brazilian Jujitsu, Muay Thai, Judo and Escrima.
LANGUAGES - Carol is fluent in English, Russian, and Arabic. She has a limited vocabulary in many other languages.
MILITARY (Air Force) & PILOTING - Understanding of the armed services. Danvers is able to lead troops and also understand a military commander's strategies. Carol is also an accomplished pilot, having extensive experience with USAF planes and other governmental aircraft. Her training as a pilot allows her to perform complex flight maneuvers.
WEAPON STYLE (Guns) - Danvers has had extensive training with modern personal firearms of all types: handguns, rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, including laser, stun, and concussion varieties.
Advantages:
CHARISMATIC - Danvers just seems to have that special magnetic charm or appeal about her. There is something about Carol that people just can't seem to resist. She seems to have a personal attractiveness or interesting-ness that enables her to influence others in a positive manner.
COMBAT REFLEXES - Danvers can react to threats almost instantly, meaning that she is very difficult to surprise and is extremely effective in close-range hand-to-hand combat. She has years of military and special ops training under her belt, and her “Seventh Sense” also boosts this advantage.
CONVICTION - Danvers possesses a great belief in herself, what she does, and what she stands for. She is able to stand up to the forces of evil and temptation better than most.
HARD TO KILL - Simply put, Danvers is incredibly difficult to kill. Even when you try to blow her to bits, she has an annoying habit of surviving... somehow.
PATTERN RECOGNITION - Danvers has an amazing awareness of placing things together, whether it be puzzles, secret messages, or another form of repetition that might not be so obvious to the average eye. This advantage has been strengthened with her BS in Engineering. Danvers is also usually good at math and history classes and can recognize patterns in functions, as well as remembering points of history and how they fit together.
Disadvantages:
LIMITED USE – Ms Marvel cannot command her Seventh Sense. It works through her subconsciousness, and it can only show her an opponent’s POSSIBLE next move. It is not infallible.
MORTAL - Near-invulnerability does not equal immortal. Carol is human, despite her superhuman abilities, and can be killed just like anyone else. It just takes a hell of a lot more to take down Ms Marvel than it would an Average Joe.
SECRET IDENTITY - The world at large does not know that Ms Marvel is, was or even might be Carol Danvers. Of all the secrets she possesses, this is likely her most guarded one. Some people do know about her secret identity, such as Col. Fury, Col. Rossi, and other members of the Avengers.

History:
Carol Susan Jane Danvers was born into a stereotypical all-American family. A voracious reader, she dreamed of becoming an astronaut and traveling to distant planets; as a teen she even hitchhiked to Cape Canaveral to view a launch there. Her father was a retired Air Force pilot, and her brother, Joseph Jr., had also served in the military (sadly, he lost his life during the Gulf War in a roadside bombing by Afghani insurgents). Her father had always wanted Carol to have been a boy, but since Carol was not a boy, he treated her very differently than he did her two older brothers. He had always said that a woman's place was in the home, and hence, he forbade Carol from going to college; Carol's mother was always soft spoken and completely dominated (but never abused) by her husband. Instead of going straight to college after graduating from high school Carol took sales job - and then four days later, on her 18th birthday, she turned her back on her father's wishes and joined the Air Force, where she also simultaneously earned her 4 year degree at the Air Force Academy. When he built their Cape Cod summer home, Carol insisted on working as hard as her two brothers, trying to make equal in her father's eyes. She wanted so badly for her father to be proud of her and to accept the fact that although she wasn't the baby boy he had been hoping for, that she is just as good and worthy of his love and respect as her brothers. Her brother Steve's death in military action would eventually draw Carol back to her family, but she still never felt truly accepted by her father. His true feelings for his daughter remain to be seen.
Carol was able to fulfill her dreams of flying and her love of aircraft through her time with the US Air Force. She was a top student at the Air Force Academy and enjoyed a rapid career advancement, quickly rising to the rank of Major and vastly impressing her superiors. Because of her stellar performance, superb combat skills and natural intellect, Carol was soon recruited into their 21st Space Wing, a unit of the Air Force Space Command based at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, a joint military-SHIELD facility dedicated to space exploration. The unit is tasked with the operation of early missile warning and space object detection equipment around the world in support of NORAD and USSTRATCOM. Their mission is: to conduct world class space superiority operations and provide unsurpassed installation support and protection while deploying Warrior Airmen. During this time she met and worked with Col. Nick Fury, and Danvers was partnered with Col. Michael Rossi (the two became on-again/off-again lovers).
Maj. Danvers called on the Avengers for some assistance in the last handful of months; an object they had viewed on one of SHIELD's telescopes was raising some concern, and Carol believed that it was extraterrestrial in nature; however, she didn't want to appear crazy, so before she went to her superiors with this information, she wanted to obtain an expert's opinion: Hank Pym's to be specific. When the object crash-landed on Earth, Carol grabbed a gun and led the Avengers into the woods, where the object had landed.
Upon arriving at the crash site, they were soon attacked by the object, which revealed itself to be a Kree Sentry, an alien robot designed to wipe out a planet's 'troublesome' population before the Kree came to take over. It aimed its weapon systems at Carol, due to the fact that she carried a weapon. When it fired upon Carol and disarmed her, the Sentry turned and headed for the observatory.
Carol drove ahead and evacuated everyone there, but as she was trying to evacuate Phillip, the Sentry attacked. Attacking the Sentry once more, she told Phillip to get out of the observatory; however, due to a wayward blast from the Sentry, a power grid exploded behind them. Phillip quickly shielded her with his body, and the blast of energy passed through them both, unknowingly merging their DNA slightly. Carol then passed out as Phillip was revealed to be a Kree by the name of Mar-Vell.
Danvers was not allowed to return to her old position at the AFB in Colorado. Instead, Fury reassigned her to SHIELD, where she spent the next several months learning how to use her new abilities and discovering her limitations. Danvers took on the codename: “Ms Marvel” and was added to the Avengers active roster in late 2012, just over a year after she received her uncanny abilities.
After another battle with the Sentry, Mar-Vell got Carol to the hospital, where he was greeted by the Avengers. While answering their questions he told them that he wanted to help. After destroying the Sentry, with help from the Avengers, Mar-Vell apologized for what had happened and said to watch over their injured teammates. After Mar-Vell's departure, Carol was shown to be awake and levitating above her bed, showing that she had obtained powers similar to Mar-Vell's. Shortly after her recovery, Carol was transferred from her Colorado AFB to the Avengers.
