New town, new rules. Jess had decided to leave her past behind her, where it belonged. The less said or thought about it, the better. She wasn't even interested in becoming certified as a private investigator here in New York. It was too strong of a reminder.
Jess was, at some point, going ot have to find a job, but right now.... Right now, she could hide behind her guise as Spider Woman to pass the time.
Gliding above the city, she pulled her arms in slowly to drop her height. There was an altercation a few roads ahead, and Jess wasn't planning on ignoring something she could stop.
Electricity ran down her arms with anger, and Jess smirked in pleasure as she landed behind what she could now tell were a pair of muggers. Too bad for them that her bioelectric shocks were working today.
"Heads up!" she called out, neatly balancing just behind them before zapping both with her venom blasts. Stunned, they slumped to the ground leaving just Jess and an already hysterical woman.
"No real time to chat, but you have yourself a good day."
Jess saluted her cheerfully before racing up the nearest building to the roof.

Peter was out doing his job as Spider-Man, well as soon as he found something to do.Right now, he had his phone tuned to the police scanner as he sat perched atop one of the many apartment buildings. He smiled under his mask. New York was perfect for web slinging with all the high buildings. Nothing was happening, so he was planning to head home until...
"We've found an attempted rape victim" A voice crackled over the police scanner. "It seem someone took care of the sex offenders for us." A second voice said, "Was it Spider-Man?" The first voice answered, "Yes, well, no. The victim said that it looked like Spider-Man, but seemed to shoot out some form of electricity. There also isn't any webbing anywhere here."
"Interesting." Peter said, turning off his phone. "Looks like I have a fan club. Better find out who this pretender is." He said, jumping off his perch and firing out a web line.

Jess loved flying. It was one of her skills that didn't seem to flicker on and off with all the moodiness of a teenager. Little surprise given part of her ability to do so rested in her costume. Certain details just didn't matter though.
Because her costume had been designed while she was still with HYDRA, and HYDRA was even more of her past that Jess didn't want to delve into. It was like poking an ant hill or a wasp nest with a stick. There would be a swarm and inevitable stings.
She had broken up another knot of troublemakers before her venom cooled down and Jess had reverted to hand to hand to knock out her opponent. A couple of times now, she'd had the strange experience of being asked about 'Spider Man'.
Did she really look masculine? I mean, come on.
Dimly, Jess thought she could remember hearing a bit about New York's masked superhero, but she hadn't invested that much thought into him. Aside from wondering if he was like her... it wasn't as if she had obsessed over it. Meeting Wolverine had given her so very many things to consider that one person in particular just did not rank as important enough to track down information on yet.
But now? She was curious alright, and keeping an eye out for another red costume. She might just say hello. If only because it would be nice to know another spider.

Peter knew New York was too big to search, after all, he didn't have super-sight. Using his police scanner phone, he found out where the copycat was, and the police had seen a shadowed form leave a bunch of gangsters who were unconscious or stunned. Because of this, he knew to be wary. But, he knew what direction she had headed off in, and where she was jus a few moments ago.
He swung off, and saw a shadowed figure... flying? No, they just had to be gliding on the air currents through the city. He jumped down toward the figure before shooting out a webline and swinging close to her. "They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." Keeping pace with her, he smirked under his mask. "Mind if I meet what seems to be my number-one fan?"

Jess might have had super senses, but that did not mean she was accustomed to being joined in her flight by a Tarzan/Spider cross.
He was swinging by webbing!
Admittedly, that was actually rather neat, and if her gifts were more reliable Jess would have been jealous. As it was, at least her ability to glide wasn't likely to just stop working and leave her crashing and praying that the damage would not be too bad for her slight healing factor.
And after meeting Wolverine, she knew that it counted as 'slight'.
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
An easy enough mistake to make. There costumes were even similarly colored! No wonder the normal humans had asked her about 'Spider Man', if this Tarzan Spider Boy was who they had meant.
Jess had to wonder though... what else was similar about them?
"I would hate to disappoint a fellow spider," Jess drawled. "Although I can't say I'm very familiar with you."
Angling her arms slightly, Jessica was able to descend fairly gracefully to a nearby roof. She could talk easily while gliding, but she wasn't as sure about her current company.

"I would hate to disappoint a fellow spider, although I can't say I'm very familiar with you."
Ouch. Sure, he had been operating for a few months at best, but people did know who he was. "You must be new to the city then." Seeing her stop and land on a roof, he swung over and landed in a crouch before standing up straight. "I'm Spider-Man, and it's a pleasure to meet you."
He began eyeing her warily under his mask without changing his posture. After all, if she tried something, his Spider-sense would go off. "So if you're not a member of my fan club, then who are you? " Eyeing her costume again, he said, "Gliding's pretty cool, but it's not really spider-like. Even think of something along the lines of bats or ariel bugs?"

Jess had inclined her head slightly to acknowledge that, yes, she was new here. Still fairly new to the country really, and that showed in her accent.
"Apparently, I'm Spider Woman," she replied in amusement. It wasn't that new of a name for her, but Jess didn't tend to stick around long enough to get accustomed to the moniker. "Couldn't keep using Arachne forever, I suppose."
That name had too many ties to HYDRA anyway.
Gliding's pretty cool, but it's not really spider-like.
Pity that this spider-boy couldn't see her full expression right now.
"Neither is vine jumping, monkey boy."
After spending so much of her life truly believing that she was nothing more than an evolved spider and not human at all, Jess could perhaps be considered a little tetchy on the subject of what was 'spider-like'.

Peter listened to her intriuged. "Well, I like the new name for you. Great minds think alike, am I right?" He said, smirking, forgetting she couldn't see him.
"Neither is vine jumping, monkey boy."
He quickly defended himself. "Hey now, this is my own web fluid, pound-for-pound as strong as spider silk. It's much more reliable than relying on air currents for gliding." He neglected to mention that his webbing was very easy to cut but why give away and weaknesses to this stranger. Speaking of...
"So, where'd you come from?|

She chuckled at that. If this 'Spider-Man' wasn't going to be territorial over some sort of 'claim' to the title, then Jess figured she shouldn't get her hackles up.
That, and the fact Jess had decided one of her 'new rules' was to not take things so seriously. Or at least not act as if she did.
"Gliding is a recreational activity," she explained slowly. "If I want speed or reliablity, then I would run."
Sharing advantages wasn't the most dangerous, especially to another 'superhero'.
One would hope.
Where'd you come from?
"Los Angeles by way of Europe. Or my mother's womb decades ago, if that's what you're asking."
Her lips twitched slightly, still fairly relaxed.

"Gliding is a recreational activity. If I want speed or reliablity, then I would run."
He cocked his head. "So, you'd either bowl over pedestrians, or try and move in New York traffic? Yeah, stick to gliding." He said with a chuckle.
"Los Angeles by way of Europe. Or my mother's womb decades ago, if that's what you're asking"
The answer to his second question made him laugh. "Looks like the new Spider has a sense of humor!" He inclined his head toward you. "I like you. Want a tour of the city from the Amazing Spider-Man?"
