Location: The Avengers Tower Gym Date: Four Months After The Avengers Time of Day: 10:45 AM[/url] Jan was fashion-forward. Her hair hung loosely in a pony-tail, but her bangs were still out. She wondered how this looked, her new hair. She had started to grow it out, tired of the pixy-cut she had for so long. Hank had never said anything, so she assumed it looked nice. She liked it, at any rate. Janet looked at her iPhone, she figured that he'd be arriving soon. But until he did, she put on Pandora and slipped in one earbud. Waiting killed her, now that she thought about it. The music helped drown it out, but even waiting five minutes! She never realized how impatient she could be. Jan was too excited to learn all the various techniques that Steve could teach her![/ul] [Gosh! What a lame title! FML.]

"Good morning Miss van Dyne."
Steve emerged from the men's locker room at 10:50. He'd just finished the light cardio work he'd decided on before going to freshen up. When Wasp asked him to show her some combat techniques, Steve was quick to agree, helping the team become a better fighting force was probably one of the best fit tasks for him. Of course, his own fighting style had been a bit outdated when The Avengers first formed, eventually Natasha got him up to speed on some more modern fighting styles, they meshed well with Steve's agility and brute strength as well.
In his white Strategic Scientific Reserve shirt and tan workout pants, Steve had decided to fly casual today. His uniform would only get in the way if he were to try and do step by step instruction to a hand to hand novice, so less restraining clothes would be helpful. He offered a friendly smile to her before saying, "I figure we'll walk through some basics, enough for you to be able to defend yourself, and then after you catch on some more advanced styles."
The Captain took a deep breath and said, "We can stop any time, because of my body's alterations, I have a lot more energy and strength than the average person. I'm going to push you to the limit, but if we cross a point where you can't go on, tell me."

[/i] She wondered to herself, before stretching out her arms. She had stretched earlier, but doing some more stretches couldn't hurt her, Janet figured. "Ready whenever you are, Cap." She started in a sing-song voice. He had been talking about learning the basics first, and then they'd move onto more complex styles. That's what excited her the most. Janet wanted to learn all kinds of different ways to fight. She didn't want to ever be put in the position where she couldn't do anything because her powers were useless against a foe. For some reason that seemed highly probable to Jan. she had a nightmare once or twice, and it was something that prompted her to seek help. Her nightmare? Nobody had been around, and despite knowing how to utilize her own abilities to perfection, they were useless against her enemy. Now, Jan was a clever girl. She just didn't give up, but she saw no way out of that without her own death. Then she woke up, in bed with Hank. Still, she was frightened. If she had hand-to-hand skills, she could have held them off until somebody could help her. So now here she was, ever determined to learn! Hopefully she wouldn't have to cancel her 3:00 appointment at the nail salon. She had almost forgotten all about that appointment. Janet looked at her nails at the thought, and her eyes widened. When was the last time she had them done?[/ul]

Janet seemed to have spaced out, so Steve cleared his throat, "So, like I was saying Miss van Dyne, basics. I'm sure you can throw a punch or a kick if you have to, so I'd rather we go over counters to an attack, it that's alright with you." He held his arm out like an extended punch, "Grab my wrist and twist it around behind my back." When she did, he explained, "This is a hammer lock. From here, there's not much I can do, unless I'm incredibly stronger than you."
Which he was, but that wasn't the point. The average super villain probably wouldn't break the Wasp's grip, "From here, you can take someone down to the ground nice and easy. If they resist, pull their arm up further. You can even break it from this position. Hopefully you won't have to do that."
Steve showed her a few more counters, still trying to think of a good offensive tactic for her, given her powers. When it came to him, it was nearly time for lunch.
"Your powers lends to the idea of sticking and moving Miss van Dyne, how fast can you change from full size, to small, back to full size? If you don't mind me asking?"

When she noted that shrinking and growing was easy enough for her, Steve nodded and said, "That's going to be your greatest advantage. If you hide in your small form, pop up and grow while you're punching, you'll have the element of surprise at first. I can teach you the best places to hit to score an easy knock out and not have to risk going beyond the initial hit."
Steve showed Janet some of the softer parts of the face, "Don't hit here, the damage will be mostly absorbed. You want to hit bone, send them reeling. If you can hit them hard enough, you'll be able to knock them right of out commission before they can do anything." He smiled and said, "Of course, if you can grow like Doctor Pym, you can just become a giant and hit them with the enhanced strength that body provides."
He waited a few moments before asking, "Do you have your uniform? If not, we can break first and then come back and do a little more practice."[/blockquote]
