History: Remy LeBeau was adopted when he was just a little boy. Trained as a pickpocket from when he was still very small, Remy was intiated into the Thieves’ Guild. As a young teen, Remy began to develop his powers, but as he was in a group of Thieves, his mutant powers were looked on as an asset over an affliction.
That’s not to say that Gambit didn’t run into problems from others because of his powers. His eyes were now black and red, subject of mocking, so Remy took to wearing sunglasses to avoid people staring and judging him. He’d evolved from a simple thief into a con man, hustling people with card tricks, defending himself with his powers when he ran into trouble.
That’s when Remy got noticed by Charles Xavier. In the summer of 2004, a tough guy with claws recruited Remy. By recruiting, what was really meant was that Remy got his ass kicked and he was forced to join by Wolverine. He ended up studying at the school and joining the black ops team called the X-Men.
Now, during the day, Remy serves as faculty at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. Usually as an assistant teacher or as a substitute. At night, he serves on the X-Men.

- Molecular Acceleration: Remy has the power to take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to kinetic energy thus “charging” that item with explosive results.
- Enhanced Agility: Gambit's ability to tap energy also grants him superhuman agility and dexterity which gives him an added edge he has used to his advantage by developing a unique acrobatic fighting style.
- Static Interference: Ability to create static, because of the charged potential energy always in his body, that shields his mind from detection and intrusion by even the most powerful telepaths. The shield has the added effect of destabilizing touch based powers.
