* * *"Well, you certainly know how to negotiate your way out of a bind, don't you Miss Potts?"
She raised an eyebrow, her stride purposeful as she breezed through the automatic double doors of the gift shoppe.
“It does help that you’re so easy, Mr. Stark.”
The immediate selection didn’t stand out to her; mostly it was fluorescent prints and heavily jewelled designs that tended to appear to the mainstream crowd. And of course there were a few SI-branded choices, including the one Tony was pointing to. It was black, and while not exactly modestly cut it wasn’t bad… except for the capital S-T-A-R-K printed across the bum.
With an eye roll, she cursed the trend, blaming Victoria’s Secret or whoever was responsible to hell and back. But the suit had a strapless option, which would save her the effort of evening out tan lines later on, and she had to admit it was probably the best marketing ploy there was, especially when she was the person wearing it. However, she knew better than to look Tony in the eye on her way to the cash register; she could feel the smirk without ever having to see it.
Sighing defeatedly, she headed off to the changing rooms, quickly slipping into the new suit and heading back to Tony’s side. Now that she wasn’t being scrutinised by half a dozen camera crews, she was perfectly at ease in the bikini, even if it meant that Tony had technically won.
"Don’t think you’re getting your way all afternoon; I'm definitely not going on that slide.”
She fixed him with a look before nudging her wraparound shades back up her nose, slipping her arm in his and heading back out into the park. * * *

Smirking was exactly what Tony was up to. He watched as Pepper sheepishly picked the bikini with his last name splayed across the backside of it, trying not to look at him. The billionaire nearly broke out into a laugh, he couldn't really help it, it was absolutely hilarious to him. Pepper didn't seem to think so, but Tony knew she'd get over it. She headed off to change while Tony stood around and made light conversation with other patrons.
When Pepper returned, Tony was about to speak before she set him straight, "Don’t think you’re getting your way all afternoon; I'm definitely not going on that slide.” With that, a laugh finally escaped from Stark, "Oh, you're going down that slide Pepper, you just haven't come to terms with it yet." Tony was sure of that, he could be somewhat of a master of manipulation when he wanted to. For now, he'd just ease her into it.
Snaking his hand down into her's, Tony nodded toward the outside, "Come on, let's get out of here, soak up some sun, maybe go up to that private pool." Of course there was a private pool for Tony. He couldn't just have one place where he didn't have a specialized office, or house, or pool for that matter. Tony Stark went big everywhere, because he could, and he often did it all by himself.
Why? Because why not?

* * *Pepper hadn’t seen the private sun suite here, except on paper. In truth, Tony had showed her the blueprints early on, and she’d promptly forgotten about it;; there was only so much she mentally had room for as the CEO of Stark Industries, and she’d thought that luxury pools were not one of them.
Of course, once that pool was circulated, filtered, temperature regulated by an SI reactor, it was a little more relevant to her line of work.
“The private pool sounds good,” she noted, careful to keep just the right amount of suspicion in her voice so that he would still think it was his idea. That was important with Tony. But in truth, the private pool sounded lovely: it would be a bit quieter, and she could catch a bit of sun without having to worry about the ridiculous swimsuit she’d purchased.
Most of all, she knew not to argue the point about the slide. If there was anything Tony loved more than winning, it was arguing. By not arguing, she’d already won half the battle. They would spend some time at the private pool, make a big fuss saying goodbye to the press in an hour or so, and go home without ever having visited the slide. She squeezed his hand lightly as it slipped into hers, feeling the same small rush of pleasure she always did when he initiated the gesture.
Their photo was snapped a few times as they made their way through the park, and behind her sunglasses, Pepper rolled her eyes; there was no chance of this swimsuit not making the gossip columns. * * *

Tony nearly turned and posed to the photographers, but knew that if he'd did that, he'd never see the inside of their bedroom ever again. Refraining from doing that, instead the man behind Iron Man led Pepper to their private pool. It was up on the roof of his office at the park, and surrounded by four metal beams with a sunroof that could turn dark to block the sun if it was too hot. and the best part, he could use him computer systems here, similarly to his workroom in his home.
Getting ready, Tony pushed his hands together in a circle and made a ball. Looking to his partner with a small smirk, he called out to her, "Hey Pepper, catch my ball." He tossed the 3D model of a ball to her. Knowing Pepper, she'd try to catch it and it would stick to her hand, just like it always did at home. She'd try to pull it off her hand and take a few moments to do so, it was a great prank for Tony, didn't make a big mess, but always got one of those adorable growls of frustration out of Pepper.
In the meantime, Tony wandered into the office and started to mull around the choices of champagne. After all, today was going off without a hitch, so why not celebrate?
With another snap of his fingers, the ACDC started on the speakers. Now, he had music, he had a bottle of champagne and he had his beautiful girlfriend out by the pool. There wasn't much out there that could make it better than that. He picked a bottle, poured two glasses and left the bottle in an ice tray before heading out to find Pepper settled into a comfortable looking chair.
Joining her, Tony fixed his own sunglasses before handing Pepper her champagne glass, "Well then, today has been, incredibly successful so far. I don't know if it gets much better than this at the water park. Oh wait." Steve clapped his hands and an opening next to the pool made itself known. Soon, a slide of their very own rose up. Tony looked to Pepper and smirked, "It just did."

* * *Pepper caught the NanoBall out of reflex, and, as it always did, it immediately coated her fingers. It was the oddest sensation, not unlike having your hand coated with a sort of intelligent chewing gum, which was why she hated it. Her nose wrinkled as she fought to roll it back into a ball.
“Tony, I can’t believe you brought – for the last time, I hate your ball.”
She marched over to set it on one of the tables, deciding on the way that the lounge furniture looked incredibly inviting. Had Tony picked this out? It didn’t look familiar to her, but it was terribly comfy. Ever mindful of tanlines, she set her sunglasses on the table and stretched out, smiling in the warmth of the sun.
ACDC suddenly blared from the speakers, and her eyebrows knit together slightly. This was really par for the course with Tony – the same album blared from his workshop all the time – but she thought she’d be free of it at the park, at least. At the sound of footsteps she opened her eyes a bit, her slight annoyance smoothing away at the thoughtfulness of the champagne. That simple pleasure quickly turned into disbelief as the slide appeared, and she rolled her eyes with a short laugh.
“Knock yourself out, Iron Man. I’ll be right here, not getting wet.” * * *

Pepper's second quip was met with the sound of a splash. Tony had already hit the water. The best part of California in the summer was that it was always so hot, swimming was the best way to cool off. As the arc reactor in his chest lit the water up with a blue hue, Tony took a few moments to swim around beneath the surface. Sometimes, it was nice to do things outside of the Iron Man suit now and then, actually feel the water against his skin.
Oh, how low tech, he must've been turning into a hippie. He'd build a flying car when he got home to make up for thinking such a thing.
Surfacing, Tony shook his head around like a shaggy dog and floated over to the edge of the pool facing Pepper, his usual overly confident smirk growing, "Pepper, come on in, the water is great." That wasn't so much an invitation as it was a warning of things to come. Tony would get Pepper into the water, even if he had to pick her up and jump in with her to do so, it was an inevitability.
"You can tan just as well as you can in the pool as you can out of the pool. I'll even get you one of the lounge floats."
