"Aw, now come on cherie. Jus' a lil' one won't do no harm." He put a hand on the counter to her side, blocking off any escape route she may have had, "An' even if Gambit end up on de floor, at least he's goin' down with a smile on his face."
Rogue turned her face back to look at Remy again, since it would be rude not to. It was then that she saw that her escape route was being blocked.
Not that that was necessarily a bad thing...
Feeling conflicted, Rogue sighed, and her worries were written all over her face. Should she just give in and do it? It was something she'd been wanting to do, too... but there was also that risk that something could go wrong. Was a little kiss worth all of that potential pain and heartbreak?
Well... Remy sure seemed to think so.
Finally, after a few moments of awkward silence while Anna Marie mulled over her options and weighed out the risk vs. the reward, she had something to say, "As much as Ah'd like ta go ahead an' give that a try, Ah can't help worryin' that somethin's gonna go wrong..."
"You absorb Gambit's powers, an he'll show ya how not to set'em off, you ain't got nothin' to worry about Rogue."
Rogue gave Remy a thoughtful look and held it for a moment - one could almost see the gears in her head turning - and then she abandoned the roux, turned to face Remy head-on and shrugged her shoulders. She said, "Well, alright - here goes nothin;..." Anna Marie didn't wait for him to make a move; instead, she reached up and tugged on the collar of Remy's shirt, guiding him downwards while she leaned upwards and planted a kiss square on his lips.
She just prayed he'd be alright - and that he'd remain conscious... and she plumb forgot about the roux on the burner.

Remy had expected to need to convince Rogue a bit more, so he was pleasantly surprise when she went for it and kissed him. After she pulled him down, Gambit returned the kiss, not even thinking as he ran a hand through her hair, letting it come to rest on the back of her neck. It was a small kiss, no going beyond a the lips, Gambit assumed she was worried that she would get too worked up for something like that, so he didn't try to pester Rogue into going further, yet.
And yet, there was no drain, Gambit felt completely normal.
How very interesting.
Slowly, he backed off, smiling, "See cherie? Now, dat wasn't so bad, if you ask Gambit. For someone who don't get a whole lot of time to practice, you're a pretty good kisser." Gambit chuckled a bit before saying, "Dunno why nothin' happened, but I think, we better make sure dat if your powers don't effect him, we seize the moment, non?"

...he ran a hand through her hair, letting it come to rest on the back of her neck.
No, no, no... This was too much. Something horrible was going to happen... At least, that was the panicked thought that kept racing through Rogue’s mind. She would have much preferred to have been able to properly enjoy kissing Remy, instead... But, she couldn’t just relax and enjoy the moment - she was too hung up on the fact that she couldn’t control her powers, and she was afraid that if she let her guard down - if she relaxed - that something dreadful was going to happen.
And, it’d all be her fault.
Rogue was too shaken up and too worried to notice, however, that she didn’t feel her powers spark into action; rather, they seemed kind of... absent. She also didn’t feel the presence of a copy of Remy’s psyche in her mind. If she’d noticed this, maybe they would have kept on going...
Slowly, he backed off, smiling, "See cherie? Now, dat wasn't so bad, if you ask Gambit. For someone who don't get a whole lot of time to practice, you're a pretty good kisser."
She was baffled. Relieved, and baffled. Remy was fine, and her head was quiet (save for the copy of Ms. Marvel’s psyche, of course, but she was a pretty decent tenant, all things considered). Rogue stared up at Remy with her jaw a bit slack, and her eyes clearly showing her state of confusion.
“How...” she uttered. “Ah... Ah don’t understand...” and she looked to him as if he held all the answers - but of course, he probably knew just about as much as she did. Which was nothing.
“Nothin’ happened...” Rogue babbled on, trailing off as her mind tried to figure things out. Then, she sort of broke out into a semi-manic, bemused grin and went on, “Ah don’t know why nothin’ happened, but Ah sure ain’t complainin’.”
Gambit chuckled a bit before saying, "Dunno why nothin' happened, but I think, we better make sure dat if your powers don't effect me, we seize the moment, non?"
Rogue laughed in response. “You wish, Cajun,” she teased with a flirty smirk, though it still bothered her that she hadn’t a clue as to why her powers hadn’t zapped him, and also why she wasn’t accidentally blowing something up with his copied powers.
It was the weirdest thing... But certainly in no way was it a bad thing.
Despite her words, though, Rogue was kinda tempted to give it a second try: if nothing happened again, then perhaps Remy was able to negate her powers somehow; however, Anna Marie doubted she’d be that lucky... That was too much to hope for.
“Then again... Maybe that’s not such a bad idea, after all,” Rogue said, completely in earnest. “Maybe Ah oughta give it anotha’ go ta find out if that was some sort’a fluke, er what - cuz, it’s either that, er else you’re somehow immune ta mah powers, er somethin’...” she decided, and she was sure that Remy wouldn’t mind being her guinea pig.

“How...” she uttered. “Ah... Ah don’t understand...”
"Yo guess is as good as mine cherie," Gambit started, "Matter o' fact, I was expectin' to be droolin' on de floor by now." He smirked a bit, having assumed that Rogue would have absorbed his powers and left him an unconscious mess, like anyone else she had touched before. Rogue's powers kept her from touching anyone, except for Gambit now, he'd gotten the lucky golden ticket, around him, she could be a normal person. He felt like a millionaire.
“Ah don’t know why nothin’ happened, but Ah sure ain’t complainin’.”
Gambit chuckled a bit before saying, "Dunno why nothin' happened, but I think, we better make sure dat if your powers don't effect me, we seize the moment, non?"
“You wish, Cajun.”
He smirked lightly before saying, "Well, you know what dey say about when you wish upon a star. Sure, my star ended up bein' a helicopter, but Gambit's wish still came true." He was teasing her again. Now that they could touch without worry of him ending up comatose, their games of cat and mouse would actually have a logical conclusion, that being Remy tackling Rogue into the back of her vintage car on some crazy mountain road where no one could see them.
“Then again... Maybe that’s not such a bad idea, after all,” Rogue said, completely in earnest. “Maybe Ah oughta give it anotha’ go ta find out if that was some sort’a fluke, er what - cuz, it’s either that, er else you’re somehow immune ta mah powers, er somethin’...”
"Well," Gambit started, "We'd better try while we're still feelin' lucky. Don't wanna jinx it by waiting, do we?"

"Well," Gambit started, "We'd better try while we're still feelin' lucky. Don't wanna jinx it by waiting, do we?"
"Nope... We certainly don't want that," Rogue replied, quite mesmerized by this incredibly lucky turn of events. [Editor's Note: Rogue has only ever been able to touch one other person without her powers activating - her old buddy Blindspot*, who erased herself from Rogue and Mystique's minds before she left the Brotherhood just a short while before Rogue left them.]
Rogue had been gazing into Remy's exotic eyes, and then, almost before she realized she was doing it, her lips were pressed against his again - and again, her powers remained dormant.
Somewhere in her mind, Rogue could almost hear the copied psyche of Ms. Marvel actually cheering them on. The Cajun was quite the hottie, and Rogue had gone so long without any real physical contact... even the bitter woman within the other psyche in Rogue's mind thought that the girl deserved happiness; though, if it had been up to her, she would have gone for someone a bit older - someone closer to the Real Ms. Marvel's age. This other psyche also thought that if Rogue would let her take over, that she wouldn't have the same difficulties controlling their shared body's touch-based powers; Rogue, on the other hand, was quite skeptical of the whole idea, for many various reasons.
"Mmm... Ah could do this all day..." Rogue murmured when they finally paused to come up for air. She found this kissing thing to be much more enjoyable than washing her gorgeous car. Plus, she figured that the car could wait.
The gumbo, on the other hand, couldn't wait for much longer before it would start to burn on the stove... [OOC*: If you're interested in picking up Blindspot, please contact Rogue for more information. She seemed pretty badass in the few issues she's appeared in, and I think it'd be super-cool to have her on-site.]
