"Nice to hear," Susie commented as she finished her meal, smile not wavering once. She supposed some aphorisms really must be true, because right now all she could think was that it was little things like this that seemed to mean the most to her.
His offer to spend the whole evening off was equally appreciated, though Susan was not entirely certain she should press for it. Calling the waiter over to pay their bill, she left enough money for a tip and rose to her feet.
"Let's see what the day has in store for us, shall we?"

After paying, Reed stood and followed Susan out, it was a lovely day actually. Reed imagined it had likely been a string of nice weather that he had missed out on entirely because he had locked himself away in the Baxter Building for about a week now, probably longer. It was hard to keep track sometimes of how long he was actually working.
"You know Susan, there isn't anything I'd rather do today."
It had to be work driving him crazy. Reed had lost to Tony Stark in a contest he'd made up in his head, and so he was taking time off to spend time with Susan. If he couldn't be a better scientist this week, he was sure he could be a better boyfriend!

"Dangerous words around a woman, Mr. Fantastic," she drawled, laughing a little. "I might take you shopping."
Not that she had any intentions of doing so just yet. Susie spent enough time inside with Reed. Right now, she wanted to enjoy the fresh air.
"Central Park would be... this way!"
Clearly very pleased, Susan tugged Reed's hand forward as she headed off down the sidewalk.

"Shopping?" Reed thought for a moment before saying, "But, it's such a lovely day Susan. We should stay outside."
She must've been teasing him, because Susan was already taking him in the direction of Central Park.
"Fantastic!" Reed said, again forgetting the rule of no longer using 'fantastic' as an exclamation.
It was a bit of a walk to the park, but there was no rush! So, why not?

His honest concern that she might drag him to a mall was adorable. Sadly, she didn't really catch his expression. But they had plenty of time together now.
As long as they were out of the Baxter Building, Susan was thrilled. A walk in the sunshine, even if it was through the crowded streets of New York, rather fit the bill in her opinion.
Fantastic!
"Yes, you are. We are, even," Susan agreed contently.

"Yes, you are. We are, even,"
Chuckling, Reed squeezed Susan's hand as they walked off into the street.
"Yes, yes we are."
Soon enough, he'd work up the nerve to ask her what he wanted to. Eventually.

By the time Suan and Reed actually reached Central Park, Susie's energy levels had flagged slightly but her enthusiasm was still at full tilt.
"So, not hot dogs obviously. What about ice cream?"

Reed chuckled when Susan joked about hot dogs, "No, no, I don't think I want a hot dog, but, ice cream sounds great!"
The park ahead of them was green and the weather was perfect. Yes, choosing not to work today was one of the best decisions Reed had made in a long time now.
