He heard someone say his name, then saw them as they rolled out of the way of the flying shield. Another Avenger. This just kept getting better and better. "Black Widow!" he said when the newcomer arrived. "You look better than the pictures in your files and the papers."
Then she was charging at him, and he grinned as he held out his hand. But he didn't sense any metal, and the grin disappeared. She had apparently acted very fast.
Well. That was a tad unfortunate.
Magneto was pushed to the ground just as there was a loud crash from somewhere above them. He kicked at the redhead in an attempt to push her off. He heard what sounded like someone rushing down to them. It appeared that this was going to be more difficult than he'd anticipated. So he'd get an advantage over them.
Adjusting his head as much as he could until Stark was in his view, he reached out with his power and lifted his target up by his arc reactor. He was sure to make it obvious enough that his teammates saw.
"Stand down or Stark dies!"

"I don't think so," Ms. Marvel said, bursting in on the scene, glaring at the cloaked mutant with her hands on her hips. "Please, put him down, Magneto - the only weapons here are us," she declared, using her hands to gesture around the room at the other Avengers who had all come to heed Pepper's call as quickly as they could manage.
"Besides, one would think that a mutant supremacist such as yourself would prefer the natural firepower of his minions over man-made weapons, eh?" Ms. Marvel reasoned, doing her best to remain diplomatic - but tough.
But, not too tough. She was quite fond of their friend Tony and didn't want to make his current precarious situation worse...
"Seriously, Magneto... Rogue had me out of commission for about six weeks - and she was just one of your followers," Carol pointed out, still quite angry about what had gone down between her and the Southern mutant with the leech-like powers and the skunk-ish hair. However, she'd heard that the girl had since turned over a new leaf and had left the Brotherhood for the X-Men. Good for her.
"Why would you want weapons, anyway?" Maybe if she could keep him talking, Tony might have a chance...
And maybe one of her teammates could use this time as a distraction and take him down before Magneto realized what was going on...

[/i] She pondered, before shaking her head. It didn't matter if she did anyway, it'd cause too much noise if she removed it. Like keys dropping to a floor, it'd sound. "If I can hit him at the right spot..." Ran through her head as Ms. Marvel tried to distract him. The Wasp's Sting did hurt, and if it was placed at a strategic pressure-point, it might even cause enough pain for him to drop Tony. He wouldn't be able to kill him then, as he threatened. The Avengers would then be able to neutralize and remove their assailant.[/ul]
